Diwali
Diwali, the festival of lights, is one of the most popular festivals in India. It started centuries ago, and it’s now celebrated in many different countries, including Singapore, Mauritius, Malaysia, Australia, and even the US. It takes place in October or November and it lasts for five days. During Diwali, people light lamps and candles and put them around their houses and around their towns and villages. There are also firework displays, parties, and other celebrations.

During Diwali, people visit friends and family and give each other candy and gifts. To prepare for Diwali, people clean their homes and buy new clothes.
